Title: Challenges and Road Ahead of 5G Advanced Speaker: Yingpei Lin, Huawei Abstract Since the early concept in 2020, 5G-advanced was transitioning from industrial vision to practical reality. With a clearly defined standardization schedule, 5.5G is already poised for technological and commercial verification, and expected to be commercially developed in 2024. Undoubtedly, 5G-advanced will be more powerful, efficient and comprehensive than any previous generation of mobile communications systems. Compared to the 5G, 5.5G is expected to offer at least 10-fold performance improvement from system capacity to network energy efficiency. In order to meet these goals, technological evolution is expected to be all-round, including mega massive MIMO, mmWave new air interface and space-air-ground integrated network. This talk will first present the recent development and standardization process of 5.5G, followed by the top-10 technical challenges and associated research directions from our perspective. Through this talk, we look forward to working with global academia and industry players to embark on the new journey towards the 5.5G Era. Biography Yingpei Lin is the head of RAN Research Department of Huawei Wireless and the director of Munich Advanced Wireless Technology Laboratory of Huawei Munich Research Center.
